Clamshell boxes

A clamshell box works much like a book. Children in all cultures learn that the contents of a book can be accessed by opening its covers. This may well be the reason for the popularity of clamshell boxes, which are the most commonly used form of packaging in conservation. Form truly follows function here and confirms the statement by the famous architect Louis Sullivan: “It is the pervading law of all things organic and inorganic, of all things physical and metaphysical, of all things human, and all things super-human, of all true manifestations of the head, of the heart, of the soul, that the life is recognizable in its expression, that form ever follows function.”
