Restoration and digitalization in German libraries and archives

On September 2nd, the 3rd anniversary after the fire that took place in the duchess Anna Amalia Library in Weimar, five years after the devastating high tide along the Elbe, over 40 archives and libraries have united together and organized a common National Action Day, at the SLUB premises, for the preservation of ancient cultural documents. Some larger archives and libraries have combined to an "Alliance for the preservation of the written cultural documents" in 2000.

They would like to point to the yet under estimated risks for written documents.Millions of handwritings and books are endangered and the future of long-term archiving of digital information is being approached very slowly.

KLUG-CONSERVATION presented their product range and scope of services for long-term archival conservation, preservation and storage of cultural atrefacts.
